Surely Alfred Sisley had painted the church with the light of a very sunny afternoon. The exact color of the real church is not understood as the sunlight has fallen heavily on the architecture.

Sisley has always conformed to his protocol of using architecture and landscapes and here he has brought out his dedication with a lot of finesse. The church seems massive and yet isolated as there are no other distractions in the painting. The concentration of the viewer is totally on the church where ornamentation was greatly regarded during that era. One can definitely see a few characters painted but again their expressions are not noticeable. Probably the artist was so fascinated with the afternoon image of the church he wanted to paint it with a natural notion. The blue sky above has minimal rounded clouds. The heavy white and blue brushstrokes give a different tone to the sky. The sectioning and window panels of the church are done exquisitely by Sisley. Blending is very well done to break any contrast in colors.
