4 Tips For Making Your First Comic Book Convention A Success

If you have never been to a comic book convention before, it is easy to be confused about what you should expect. While photos that you see online are filled with people dressing up in cosplay as their favorite characters from movies, video games, and comics, it doesn’t tell the whole story about what going to the convention is like. These 4 tips will make your first trip to a comic book an enjoyable experience.

4. Be Prepared To Wait In Line

There are plenty of things to do while at a comic book convention, including meeting celebrities and attending panels. Be aware that if you are going to take part in any of these events, you are going to have to wait in line. You will probably spend more time waiting in line than not.

Some people prefer to bring a video game or a book with them to keep them busy, but other prefer to be social with the people they are going to be standing in line next to for the next hour or so. Opting for the latter may lead to you having a better time at the event and help pass the time in line.

3. Bring Snacks

Comic book conventions are an all day event, and you are going to need to eat at some point while you are there. Instead of eating fast food all day long, bring some snacks with you. It will be a life saver if the hunger pangs come while you are waiting in a line, and do not want to step out to grab some nachos.

Wear Comfy Shoes

Those fancy high heals or boots may help your outfit come together perfectly, but they are not practical for an all day event where you are standing or walking the entire time. Bring the appropriate footwear if you plan on being in a costume competition, but also bring comfortable shoes for walking around on the convention floor.

Charge Your Electronics

Do not make the mistake of taking a half charged phone with you before you start your day. Between taking photos and videos, it’s possible that your battery will be drained before the day is over. This can be especially frustrating since there is no good place to charge your phone on the convention floor.  You may want to put your phone in airplane mode when it is not in use to help conserve battery life, as it can be difficult to find a signal in a big convention hall.

It helps to take an actual digital camera with you as a backup in case your phone dies, because you do not want to miss that perfect photo opportunity if it does come up.

If you follow these 4 tips, your first trip to a comic book convention will be a success. If you end up an Salt Lake City or Atlanta comic cons, make sure to prepare yourself beforehand so you can make the most of your trip.
